SHAKE N BAKE

a set play where the partner not hitting the third shot rushes the net in an attempt to catch the opponent off guard and score a quick point; this is an advanced strategy

THIRD SHOT
DROP

after the serve and the return, the service team uses a soft, low shot that lands in the opposing teams no-volley-zone giving them a chance to move closer to the net

03.

BERT

this is the same as an erne but
occurs when a player jumps the
corner of the no-volley-zone on
their partners side of the court

04.

KITCHEN

the no-volley zone, the 7-foot
section on both sides of the net
where a player may not contact
the ball unless it has bounced

05.

VOLLEY LLAMA

an illegal shot where a player
hits a volley in the no-volley-zone

06.

GOLDEN
PICKLE

a shutout win where a team
uses its first serve and the
opposing team never gets a
chance to score or even serve

07.

DINK SHOT

a low controlled shot hit from in or just outside your own no-volley-zone into the opposing teams no-volley-zone. this shot is used to keep the other team from attacking the ball

FLAPJACK

the serve and the return are the
flapjacks and must bounce before
they can be hit, after these two
shots volleys are in play

ATP

stands for “around-the-post”, a
shot where a player hits the ball
around the side of the net post
and into the opponent’s court
